Subject: 14 'Enduring Bases' Set in Iraq
14 `enduring bases' set in Iraq: Long-term military presence planned (Chicago Tribune, March 23, 2004/globalsecurity.org)
I think it's quite evident from the article above (and many others like it), that the REAL reason we don't plan to leave Iraq -- ever -- is that we expect to dominate the entire area with our many military bases in Iraq.
How many stories have we read about the fact the contractors work 24/7 on our bases, using power that the Iraqi citizens desperately need? Is it any wonder they hate us?
Somehow we need to spread the word that this is the real reason we're not leaving Iraq. How many Americans even know about this?
I also think it would make a good talking point for any Democrat running for office to say, "GWB has stated that we will not leave Iraq while he is the president. The choice for the majority of Americans who disagree with this position is to elect a Democratic Congress which will force a change in policy, or impeach him. We must end this national nightmare!"
Subject: W Cries Wolf!!
I square it because imagine a world in which you had Saddam Hussein, who had the capacity to make a weapon of mass destruction, who was paying suiciders to kill innocent life, who had relations with Zarqawi. -- Thief in Chief (Bush)
Perhaps this is what W is talking about (or would have been talking about if he started reading books. Does anyone else think it is tragically funny that W boasts that he is reading a book, as if he accomplished something that very few people can?):
The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed—would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper—the essential crime that contained all others in itself. -- George Orwell
Saddam hypothetically could have manufactured WMDs, conspired to attack the United States using, um, let's say Kim's missiles. He also could have been in cahoots with Osama (I vaguely remember some neocons spouting that little jewel of un-intelligence). Is Bush even aware of how many crazy loonies out there wish harm upon the US primarily due to his policies? So are we going to go after them as well?
Wait - let's not forget Moussaoui, we did get him for what essentially was a thought crime. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but absolute disgust for that vile creature, but in my opinion his trial and sentencing were more for closure than anything else. And who exactly did he "square" it with? Does W really have the mental capacity for self introspection? If he did, surely he would have realized that he is so wrong. Maybe he "squared" it with the man upstairs, or maybe they were just imaginary voices in his head. Who knows, but this is what we get when America elects -- wait, wasn't the election stolen? Never mind, let's pat ourselves on the back for the wonderful democratic system we have.
Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you. -- George Orwell
This seems to be catching up to Bush, assuming that he actually does think. Recently Joe Scarborough asked: Is Bush An Idiot? I thought this was a given, but we are talking about MSM, so kudos to Joe. Keith Olbermann had an excellent segment on how this administration is using fear to manipulate America and Americans to win elections and consolidate power. W's approval rating remains in 30's, and it seems the rest of the country is slowly waking up to what this administration is all about. Is it possible that W's act is up? Even conservatives seem to be distancing themselves from Bush, though it may be possible that is happening due to the upcoming elections. Now Bush has admitted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. He also said that no one in his administration has suggested so. That's the smoking gun right there. It's not a mushroom cloud, it is the duplicity and the lies that this man and his like spew.
2600+ of our soldiers are dead. Thousands of American soldiers are wounded, tens and thousands of Iraqis are dead. How many children has this lie consumed? How much has this war cost us not only in human lives, but in credibility, money that could have been used to fix so many domestic problems? Will Americans demonstrate the will to root out the Republicans from office? Or is America still going to be scared into voting for Republicans because they are supposedly strong on national security issues? (Never mind they attacked the wrong country!!)
You are what your deep, driving desire is.
As is your desire, So is your will.
As is your will, So is your deed.
As is your deed, So is your destiny.
It's time for Americans to prove what this country is about. It's time to take control of its destiny, it's time to show what the desire of most Americans is -- one of them being getting out of Iraq as soon as humanly possible. Let's translate this desire to deed by voting out every moron in office who is pro this war, ahem, illegal invasion and occupation.

Subject: Keep Applying the Pressure
The August 22nd Mailbag had a letter from a BuzzFlash reader saying there was too much chatter and not enough substantive proposal for change. I submit that we are making a tremendous impact on the American political landscape. Items of fact that would otherwise never be touched by the corporate media are forced into the light by the persistence of Internet communication. If this were just armchair philosophizing in the fire lit tranquility of a suburban living room in the company of friends with a few glasses of chardonnay, there would be no result beyond the confines of the neighborhood. It is immaterial if any of the content producers, writers or bloggers are in their skivvies or nude, for that matter. The instantaneous connection of millions of people produces a powerful force that has altered mainstream media's ability to be the sole arbiter in manipulating public opinion.
Case in point: growing public awareness of 9-11 as an inside job and the inability of the Bush administration to frighten the public with bogus terror scares.
Case in point: overwhelming online condemnation of Joe Lieberman and his loss to Ned Lamont in the Connecticut Democratic Primary.
The power of the people when they speak and act in concert is formidable. The policymakers take notice. They realize that they might be voted out of office. They bend. They yield. They cede. Together with protest marches and demonstrations, we form a multi-pronged attack on dictatorship and the police state.
If our protests were just idle chatter, there would not be such vitriolic attacks from the true armchair pundits enthroned in the corporate media. There would not be the overt attempt by Republicans to control Internet content with legislation designed to throttle free speech. There would not be break-ins at the offices of fromthewilderness.com, where their hard drives were destroyed with sledgehammers. There would not be thousands of viruses implanted into fraudulent e-mails sent to online progressives from malicious right-wingers.
I stipulate that we are making a tremendous impact on our futures by hammering on the massive fraud, corruption and incompetence of the Republicans and traitors like Lieberman. Just look at the outrageous comments he and his cronies made about a Lamont victory encouraging Al Qaeda. Pure desperation!
Leftist bloggers being terrorists? Complete hogwash! As I have previously stated, the most dangerous terror cell we face is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, WDC.
We know where the enemies of the people are. Their uniforms are $3,000 Gucci suits, usually blue. A popular song from the 1970's, "Smiling Faces," had a great line: "Beware of the handshake, it's like a snake." Can you dig it? I'll close out with more musical wisdom from Bob Marley: "Get up, stand up--stand up for your rights. Get up, stand up--don't give up the fight."
Subject: When Is It Going To End?
We are all used to hearing one day that towards the end of the year or beginning of next year some soldiers may be coming home, and then they change their minds and bring more soldiers to the 'major-front' on the so-called "war on terror" (really the Occupation of Iraq). There has just been an article released that says the War Machine is going to recall former Marines who are home but still in the reserves.
This is an outrage! Our dear leader says he realizes what effect it has on the collective American psyche, yet the War Machine continues to call on soldiers to sacrifice again when he (dear leader) does not know the meaning of sacrifice or what it is truly doing to our psyches.
Does he care about how many families he has destroyed on account of this? No fr----g way in hell! It sure has had an effect on mine, and it has happened on top of illness, not just one but two. I have personally been through 3 nephews and one friend, who is like a nephew, who have been through stints in the Mideast. One is still there until the beginning of next year, and who knows if they will call a stop-loss? Now I find that my nephew, who previously served two stints in the Marines, may be called back to the bloody hellhole that Bush et al. have made.
This sucks massively and is a bunch of b---s---! No one should be called to sacrifice this much, and those of us who are, WE ARE SICK OF IT! WHEN IS IT GOING TO END???

P.S. I am one of the more fortunate families, So far we have not experienced death or had a soldier who was maimed physically, but we have yet to see about PTSD or radiation poisoning, some have already.
Subject: Rove and His Newest Trick To Win the Fall Elections
In case that you may not have been informed by MoveOn.org,. there is the newest update that Rove is moving to win Republican votes in the fall election by having as many Republicans as possible in certain cluster areas vote absentee ballot real early in the game. That will supposedly ensure that they have already won the election early before the voting even begins at the booths.
Do whatever you can to help MoveOn in helping to counteract this or help prevent that the Republicans will not win their particular states by making some other move. (Could this be by voting absentee ballot early for your choice of Democratic, Independent or Progressive candidates?) Let's beat them at their game!

Subject: Our Voting Power Is in Jeopardy!!!
We know about the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections; they were both questionable and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled as to who won the election.
The mid-term election in November, 2006 is of vital significance; yet, over 60 percent of the voters will be using "machines" to cast their ballots. Electronic voting machines can be PRESET, just like a slot machine set to pay off.
It is about time the American public demand that a uniform, national law concerning the voting mode...preferably by paper ballot...be established. At the moment, individual states can regulate the voting mode, which leaves a lot of loopholes when it comes to the use of "electronic voting machines."

Subject: They're Right Against the Ropes
The president, the republicans, the powers that be, the whole cabal. And it's all been self-inflicted, because to date we the people haven't done much to speed this process along. Despite this, things are going so badly for them that all it'll take right now is a huff, a puff & that'll blow 'em all down. But what would the huff & puff consist of? Let's see, for the huff how about, "You stood by and let 9/11 happen;" for the puff why not use, "You stood by and did nothing to save the people of New Orleans from Katrina"; and then when it's time to blow 'em all down, what about, "Your Iraq war serves as al-Qaeda's official recruitment drive."
Any one of these three (the huff, the puff or the blow 'em all down) and they'll be hanging on the ropes til they're counted out. All three together and over the ropes and into the stands they go. What are we waiting for?

Judge may have had conflict of interest, group says (Joan Biskupic/USA TODAY)
WASHINGTON — A judicial watchdog group contended Tuesday that Michigan U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor, who last week struck down a federal warrantless wiretapping program, may have had a conflict of interest in the case.
Judicial Watch, a conservative-leaning group based in Washington, issued a news release calling attention to Taylor's apparent membership in a local foundation that gave $45,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan in recent grants. The ACLU of Michigan was one of the parties to the case challenging the surveillance program that was begun after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The lead challenger was the national ACLU.

Subject: A Dissertation on Scarborough's Analysis
Joe Scarborough ignited a powder keg recently with his observation in regards to Shrubya's intellectual and verbal capacity.
Scarborough basically asserts that Shrubya simply does not display any leadership qualities.
Americablog.com has located a YouTube clip that shows Shrubya during the Texas Governor's debates.
You'll have a very clear idea of what Joe Scarborough is getting at.
Now, Joe thinks that something is going on in regards to Shrubya's health, but I disagree.
First, Georgie is in way over his head. He's so far into the deep water that he's a floundering man. He knows that America as a whole is turning against him. Any man who says that polls and opinions against him don't matter because he's doing what is right is outright delusional. All the negativity that he himself has spawned is starting to rub raw against his ego and his self-confidence.
Second, the halting, fumbling, and erratic topic of discussion speech patterns are all too familiar to me and are probably familiar to many BuzzReaders. Ever get so angry, so upset, and so rattled that when you try to refute an argument or attempt to defend your position that the words just get in the way? You're thinking very clearly, and you know what you really want to say, but everything just comes out in a jumble of verbal diarrhea? That's what's happening with Shrubya.
Now, why it's happening is very simple: Georgie is an angry man. He cannot fathom why people are not agreeing with him. He cannot understand why people question his judgment. He cannot believe that, even though he is president, people are not supporting him.
What that reveals is a man who believes he's entitled. He believes that, since he believes he is right, as president, people should support him no matter what the outcomes and consequences.
It's no longer troublesome that he refused to listen to advice, did not seek wisdom in entertaining opposite points of view, or tended to react in an obvious overbearing and arrogant manner.
It's troublesome that we may be seeing a man unravelling at the seams because, from day one, he is truly unqualified to be President of the United States.
