Eric Mann
Eric Mann was a member of SEIU 250 in San Francisco/Oakland as an operating room orderly. He was a member of UAW Local 560 in Milpitas, California, and UAW Local 645 in Van Nuys, California, as an auto assembly line worker for ten years. He was the coordinator of the Campaign to Keep GM Van Nuys Open, keeping that plant open for ten years (1982-1992) after GM threatened to shut it down. He is the director of the Labor/Community Strategy Center in Los Angeles, a working-class center for civil rights and the environment. He is the author of "Playbook for Progressives: 16 Qualities of the Successful Organizer," to be published by Beacon Press in August 2011.
