Sheila Samples: Dare To Look Back

by Sheila Samples

"...the high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the American's freedom, and before I leave office, I must inform the citizens of this plight." John F. Kennedy (November 12, 1963, Columbia U, 10 days before his assassination) I cannot recall a single day since Vulcans' Godfather James Baker sent his thuggish henchman John Bolton to Florida's Palm Beach County to screw up the vote count that has not been filled with horror, anger, shame -- despair. On Dec. 9, 2000 -- three days before the Florida deadline -- the US Republic shuddered on its axis when Bolton crashed through the doors of a Tallahassee library where Miami-Dade ballots were being recounted and shouted triumphantly -- "I'm with the Bush-Cheney team, and I'm here to stop the count!"

Danny Schechter: Killing Them Softly

by Danny Schechter, Mediachannel.org

The tragic shooting massacre on the Virginia Tech campus is being discussed and debated intensely on every media outlet. At this writing, there are more questions than answers and it seems as if American society is producing these "lone gunmen" with increasing frequency.

Subject: Virginia Shooting

by Evelyn Pringle

It's time for Americans to face the cold hard truth that nothing will be accomplished by allowing the daily carnage in Iraq to continue, and if Bush has his way, our young people will be dying in this war profiteering scheme until hell freezes over. Congress needs to authorize funding to pull our troops out of that deathtrap and not one dime more.

More news that deserves outrage: "Insult to Injury -- New data reveal an alarming trend: Vets' disabilities are being downgraded." The Bush administration has got "talking the talk" down pat, but when it comes to the Bushies "walking the walk" American soldiers and their families can fogetta-bout-it! Whenever we hear Herr Bush spewing rhetoric about supporting our soldiers, just remember American troops were sent to battle in an illegal, unnecessary, preemptive war, without the proper equipment, without the proper training, without the proper numbers, and without the proper long-term hospital care and funding crucial to their recovery after being wounded in service to their country!

On Sunday, the National Rifle Association wrapped up its 136th annual convention in St. Louis, where 60,000 attended. NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre fired up the crowd, telling them, "Today, there is not one firearm owner whose freedom is secure."

Because Of Virginia Tech Shootings, Gonzales Hearing Delayed Until Thursday

This gives the embattled Attorney General
A chance in the next two days
To figure out how to say "I, uh ... forget"
In new and convincing ways.

VP Hasn't Called Libby Since The Trial Because "There Hasn't Been An Occasion To Do So"

When you take a bullet for Dick,
This is how you're going to be treated
This should make the current pool
Of Cheney loyalists become depleted.

Update On The New Strategy In The Iraq War

More and more people keep getting blown up
But the White House is still unable to own up
That their "road map for peace" isn't on a roll;
The only thing surging is the daily death toll.

Bush Embraces the Culture of Death

The other day, Bush read one of his pandering anti-choice, anti-stem cell research scripts glorifying the "culture of life."

How hypocritical for a man who has come to exemplify the culture of death.
