You're too old to be the leader of the free world
A job like that is energy zapping
Cameras found you at Bush's State Of The Union
Where you were soundly napping.

You served your country well in the Vietnam War
You soul and spirit took a beating
But some years later, you looked rather crooked
In dealings with Charles Keating.

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Larry Beinhart

God bless our Neo-cons. They believe in Freedom. With a capital F. They believe government is the enemy of Freedom.

Iraq – partly consciously, and partly unconsciously – was their great experiment.

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION

Many of them were great football players, American heroes in their prime, NFL stars who were the toast of the town and now in their 60's and 70's many of them are hurting and poor.

To the rescue comes Jerry Kramer, the Hall of Fame star of the Green Bay Packers in their prime. In those days, the Pack were the champions of the world, Vince Lombardi was the coach of a generation, and the National Football League was building its megabillion dollar business.

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

It's really kinda hard to keep up with how many people Libby talked to and how many knew who Plame was. My puzzlement over this whole thing is ... I understand that Plame had been undercover for many years, so why would anyone in the CIA blow her cover to the Bush administration? Are all of our secret agents told to every administration that comes into power? I don't think so. At least, I hope not. But, the way that our government has been controlled and run by the Republicans for the last 30 years, who in the hell knows? Dollar signs are the only things that light up their eyes. Beyond those, they don't seem to see anything.

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION

It's conventional wisdom that if Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign falters with Democratic activists in places such as Iowa and New Hampshire, it will be over the issue of the Iraq war. And her vacillations on the war.

Subject: Molly

My friend and colleague, Molly Ivins, said we ought to get out there and bang pots and pans to get this madness stopped. How can we start a movement to "bang pots and pans for peace?"

Lucinda Marshall: Scary Cartoons

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Lucinda Marshall

Who knows if the Cartoon Network show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is any good, but its PR campaign was enormously entertaining, albeit not in the opinion of Boston's finest. It is moments like this that we shall truly miss Molly Ivins, who doubtless would have wasted no time pointing out if this absurd episode is the epitome of our national security, it's a joke. More disturbingly, the news networks played right along, giving the story great airplay at the expense of covering stories that actually had to do with national security, like the Libby trial, which begs the question, "If an administration commits impeachable offenses and nobody’s listening…"

BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

From the very beginning, the smear campaign against Joe Wilson and his wife Valerie Plame has had George Bush's name written all over it! Remember, Bush is the epitome of revenge! "Cheney's Handwritten Notes Implicate Bush in Plame Affair." Note: "Wells said Cheney had written 'not going to protect one staffer and sacrifice the guy that was asked to stick his head in the meat grinder because of incompetence of others': a reference to Libby being asked to deal with the media and vociferously rebut Wilson's allegations that the Bush administration knowingly "twisted" intelligence to win support for the war in Iraq. However, when Cheney wrote the notes, he had originally written "this Pres." instead of "that was." Even better than the picture of Karl Rove, would be one of George Bush being "frog marched" out of the White House in handcuffs!

Cheney was so busy running the world
No one should think he still has a clue
As to whatever leaks he did back then
Let alone why, when, how and to who.
