Greg Palast: New Orleans two years after

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Greg Palast

"They wanted them poor n*ggers out of there and they ain't had no intention to allow it to be reopened to no poor n*ggers, you know? And that's just the bottom line."

It wasn't a pretty statement. But I wasn't looking for pretty. I'd taken my investigative team to New Orleans to meet with Malik Rahim. Pretty isn't Malik's concern.

Catherine Fenton: Iraqing Iran

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
by Catherine Fenton

"Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran"

Ever since John McCain gave it a beat, basically announcing, "hey America, you can dance to it!" the above refrain plays in my head whenever Iran is mentioned. Of course, Iran is being mentioned more and more these days.

BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

How Does Laura Bush Sleep at Night? If the rumors are true -- by counting the number of nights she has left with George W., of course!  She could also be counting the dollars she’ll get in the divorce agreement!

As he spoke in New Orleans
I thought I heard him sigh over
The fact he had to go & visit
(He preferred another fly-over.)

These one-sided appearances are not about "news"
Spin is their only aim
So wouldn't calling them suppress conferences be
A more accurate name?

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS
by Christine Bowman

Tuesday, August 28 was a rallying day for activists against the US-Iraq War. Eighty anti-war events spanned 16 states.

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

And, again, the same message that has been repeated many times . . . more proof that anything made by the human can be hacked by the human and sold. And still today, after all of the proof of the fraud, our nation depends on computer voting machines for the people's vote.

Shirley Smith: Time Wasted

MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

This quote is from an e-mail sent by Democracy Now about today's program.

There isn't time Representative Conyers says. If Bush and Cheney were held up with impeachment charges as they should be, they would not have more time to kill more people, and destroy more of this country's democracy. That should not be a matter of time. We've had over six years of time putting up with this criminal regime, and these people in Congress talk about "time?" That sounds too much like Pelosi and her excuse. What excuse are they going to use when the Democrats lose?

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT

DNC PRESS

Washington, DC- Two years ago, Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and Mississippi, one of the worst natural disasters in the history of America. In the weeks and months following the disaster, the Bush White House and Republican-led Congress did little to help the survivors of Katrina, despite Democratic efforts to do so. Democrats took action just seven months after taking control of Congress, working to make sure the people of the Gulf Coast had the resources needed to rebuild the region. The reconstruction efforts are far from over, and Democrats are committed to getting the people of Louisiana and Mississippi the resources they need to finish the job.
