Subject: Racism

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with this Imus/racist situation that is being discussed all over the blogosphere and t.v. does anyone remember where Ronald Reagan chose to make his first campaign appearance in 1980? Philadelphia, Mississippi!! the home of one of the most violent, horrific civil rights murders in our history. Three young civil rights workers brutally slain by the KKK. If we're going to have a discussion on race then let's have a discussion and let the chips fall where they may. Racism anyone? The beloved St. Ronald was as guilty as the next. And as long as I'm criticizing Reagan, I'll toss in homelessness to boot!!

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT

Governors across the nation are lambasting President Bush for ordering over 12,000 National Guard soldiers to Iraq later this year. The deployments will not only weaken security at home but also further what one called "the Bush administration's failed policies."

BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

"Jeb Bush part of global trio touting ethanol" -- Headlines like this beg the question, has the Bush family invested in Corn and/or Sugarcane Futures??? When Oil men start touting ethanol, then money has got to be the basis for the switch!

Dave Lindorff: A Terrifying Truth

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Dave Lindorff

It wasn't too long that the death of socialism, the triumph of capitalism, and the end of history were being widely hailed.

This pathetic response once and for all
Puts my mind at ease;
McCain was brainwashed by Bush, not
The North Vietnamese.

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

Perhaps some BuzzFlash readers are right in asserting that the goal of Bushevism is chaos, because that allows them to argue for more dictatorial powers to tame the beast that they created.

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION

Published reports have recently noted comments by Republican Congressman Don Young (where he misquotes President Lincoln) that seem to urge that members of Congress who criticize the Iraq War should be “hanged.” The people of Alaska should be deeply ashamed of their only member of Congress. His comments are beyond civil political discourse in a democracy.

Cindy Sheehan: Hell Freezes Over

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Cindy Sheehan

On a weekend where 10 American troops and dozens of Iraqis were sent to an Easter grave, Camp Casey was once again open for protesting business.

On April 9, James Zogby, President of the Arab American Institute, published his weekly column Washington Watch, entitled "Americans Should Defend Speaker Pelosi's Mission."

He said: "Her critics have been unfair, missing the significance and timeliness of her mission." He pointed out among other things: "In addition to her official meetings, the visit was most notable for its positive contribution to U.S. public diplomacy, so desperately needed in the Arab world. . . . Not everyone was happy, however. Vice President Cheney, calling from an undisclosed location into the Rush Limbaugh show, had harsh words for Speaker Pelosi's visit. While his criticism and that of conservatives may be understood as sour grapes, the failure of liberals and the mainstream media to come to the Speaker's defense or to understand the importance of Speaker Pelosi's goodwill mission is inexcusable."
