Has no thought whatsoever been given to the years of respectable journalism we can thank Helen Thomas for having contributed?  Is a wrongheaded opinion and a few comments from an 89 year old woman going to sum up a career spent searching for the truth?  There is more to Ms. Thomas than the controversial remarks she made recently and I thank her for "...57 years as a correspondent and, later, White House bureau chief for United Press International (UPI). Thomas covered every president of the United States since the later years of the Eisenhower administration, coming to the forefront with John F. Kennedy. She was the first female officer of the National Press Club, the first female member and president of the White House Correspondents Association, and, in 1975, the first female member of the Gridiron Club."

Conservatives seek gov't solutions after oil spill:  "All along the Gulf Coast, where the tea party thrives and "socialism" is a common description for any government program, conservatives who usually denounce federal activism suddenly are clamoring for it."

Ironic that hypocrites always yell the loudest for "their" rights!

This is the fifth installment of a project that is likely to extend over a two-year-period from January, 2010.  It is the serialization of a book entitled The 15% Solution: A Political History of American Fascism, 2001-2022.  Under the pseudonym Jonathan Westminster, it is purportedly published in the year 2048 on the 25th Anniversary of the Restoration of Constitutional Democracy in the Re-United States. It was actually published in 1996 by the Thomas Jefferson Press, located in Port Jefferson, NY. The copyright is held by the Press.  Herein you will find Chapter 4.

2002: The Preserve America Amendment (30th)

The 30th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States (2002):

Commencing on the day following ratification of this amendment, no person not at that time a citizen of the United States may in the future become a citizen unless at least one parent of that person is a citizen of the United States.

Sarah Palin the Repuglican, Libertarian, Tea-bagger, air-head blow hard never met a lie she couldn't tell:

Palin tweets of "xtreme greenies"...see now why we push 'drill, baby, drill' of known reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?."... what Palin fails to tell anyone is that one of the partners and largest owner in the trans-Alaska pipeline overland to Port Valdez is BP, which has a history of safety faults and environmental damage in the 49th state...a BP pipeline released over 40,000 gallons of pressurized oil and water onto the North Slope of Alaska. It has resulted in a pending criminal investigation by the EPA. All told, since the 1990s, BP has paid out tens of millions in fines, been criminally convicted and put on probation.

Time to recall that probation.

Repuglicans aided and abetted by mainstream corporate media have been scaring the bejezzus out of young people in order to annihilate Social Security again. The Repuglicans have wanted to destroy Social Security since before it was fact, and they haven't stopped their diatribe against Social Security in hopes of doing just that -- destruction:

GOP Senate hopes ride with tea party activists

In Kentucky, the Republican Senate candidate stumbles over a question on racial segregation. In Connecticut, the party's hopes rest on an executive who banked millions on female wrestlers in skimpy outfits. In Nevada, one contender wants to phase out Social Security and another suggests trading chickens for medical care. Welcome to the 2010 battle for the Senate.

If you think things are as bad as they can get in America, think again, the Repuglican Tea-baggers are coming to make things worse than ever, if you let them.

Glenn Beck Attacks President's Daughter -- Days After Insisting That Families Of Public Figures Should Not Be Attacked

Apology unacceptable, especially since malicious vicious mockery is a tactic Glenn Beck uses to attract attention.  Mocking the President's 11 year old daughter is contemptible, and taunting a rival's wife after miscarriage is cruel and insane!

... The slight outraged Beck, who got his revenge with what may rank as one of the cruelest bits in the history of morning radio. "A couple days after Kelly's wife, Terry, had a miscarriage, Beck called her live on the air and says, 'We hear you had a miscarriage,..."When Terry said, 'Yes,' Beck proceeded to joke about how Bruce [Kelly] apparently can't do anything right -- about he can't even have a baby."

Beck has a history of meanness, a history of hate-filled insane acts of cruelty.  It would be better for the whole world if he would just shut up and disappear.

One thing you can count on from the Repuglicans, they are always "for it, before they are against it"!  They will do and say anything to win an election, they will  pander and pimp their opinions just to gain elected office, then look out they'll do whatever pays the most in treasure, perks, favors, and campaign donations. Whatever happened to honesty, truth, justice and the American way?

GREEN IS GOOD
by Meg White

Walking into the production facility in a small warehouse on the north side of Chicago, cold words like "factory" and "mill" are the last things that come to mind. What would you call this place? I wonder. A studio? A workshop?
As the perfect flood of pear, citrus and lavender hits my senses, so does the appropriateness of the name. Yes, this is truly an enterprising kitchen.

The Enterprising Kitchen, or TEK as its participants call it, is a workforce development social enterprise serving Chicago women with barriers to employment. They specialize in the arts of both turning around the lives of women and soapmaking. Participants are referred to the six-month program by caseworkers from social service agencies all over Chicago.

"We get referrals from a lot of different agencies," TEK Executive Director Carolyn Nopar told me in a recent interview in her small office. "We don't aspire to be the first social service agency, but we do want to be the last."

Women accepted to the program learn all aspects of the small business, from production to shipping to sales to running the front office. They also have access to problem solving tools such as GED classes and financial counseling. Going beyond the ubiquitous resume writing session, TEK helps women set themselves up for self-sufficiency in the modern work world, with elevator speeches and LinkedIn profiles. Working at TEK is something of a last step on a long, hard road; a step you don't realize you took on your own until you look back at it from another place.
