Subject: Madness to the Method

Now we know that Congress doesn't want to help the low income Americans by extending a hand out regarding health insurance that is affordable and actually encourages preventive care.

With health insurance prices rising, the refusal to pay for covered services, exclusions for pre-existing conditions, and particularly with so many people unable to find gainful livable wage paying employment, now they want to stick fines on people who are uninsured.

Will this pertain only to people who CAN afford insurance and choose not to buy it? What provisions will be made for those people who simply can't afford it or can't find employment that provides for insurance?

Will they be burdened with extra financial penalties. It seems obvious who the only people are that this will benefit are the insurance companies and the fat salaries and benefits packages for those who are already at the top.

We are being ripped off yet again. If a person can't afford insurance and dies, is the government going to file a claim against the person's estate?

The callousness of our government just gets worse and worse. We are headed towards a catastrophe in this country. Don't these knuckleheads get that our economy will not be able to recover if people can't find jobs to be consumers who can support the economy?

The lack of ability to connect the dots by these idiots is stunning.

Who will fight for We, the People? Who will stand for the Constitution? Who will say our government must provide for the general welfare?

The MSM covers the right wing conservatives and the neorepublicons but we hear nary a word from the progressives and the few in Congress who are trying to help the people and not the corporations.

Subject: That's what I'm talkin' about!

Sept. 9, 2009

Hey Buzz,

Wow! How about that speech? Was that a thing of beauty, or what? Gee. The Republicans were lookin' awfully lugubrious just sittin' on their hands there, weren't they? Wonder why?

He came out swingin', and he didn't just hit it out of the park, he flat out tatooed it, crushed it - he just absolutely powdered the daylights out of it! Sure, there are a few details that remain to be ironed out. But I'm not about to nitpick on that point, here. Buzz, he showed me something tonight that I hadn't seen previously. He showed me the heart and spirit of a fighter for the people. So, kudos, Mr. President. Great speech. Now, on to the heavy lifting. Let's work together to get H.R. 676 enacted into law. Deal? You wouldn't veto that bill if given the opportunity to sign it, now would you? Happy warriors to the end!

Best regards,

Subject: How Would John Kerry Sound if He Had Talked About Healthcare and Not Vietnam?

Hi BuzzFlash,

If John Kerry gave Healthcare Testimony, in the same way when he testified about Vietnam at the Winter Soldier Hearings in 1971, this is what me may have heard...

Link to Original Testimony http://www.democracynow.org/2004/2/20/john_kerry_then_hear_kerrys_historic

It was easy to do once you hear those words "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake.”

These are the revised last five paragraphs of that speech...

Each day, to maximize the profits by which the Healthcare Insurance Companies wash their hands of sick Americans, many families have to give up the life of a family member, because Congress refuses to admit something that the entire world already knows, we let sick people die without having to. Someone has to die so that The Republicans will be able to, and these are their words, "If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him."

We are asking The President and Congress to think about that because how do you ask any person to be the last one to die because of Health Insurance Profits? How do you ask any person to be the last one to die by Rescission or Red-Flaging? We are here in Washington to say that the problem of people dying is not just a question of healthcare and public option. It is part and parcel of everything that we are trying, as human beings to communicate to people in this country - the question of denial of claims, which is rampant by Healthcare Insurance Companies and so many other questions such as the use of rescission; the hypocrisy of our members of Congress who take umbrage at the citizens they represent and using that as justification for a continuation of this denial of health insurance when we are more guilty than any other body of violations of the Health Insurance Industry; by getting big contributions from high paid Lobbyists, allowing harassment by claims representatives, prior patient history searched and red-flagging of their claims, the strong-armed bill collectors, the torture allowed to sick people trying to be cured, all accepted policy by many units in The Healthcare Industry this country faces. That is what we are trying to say. It is part and parcel of everything.

A former CIGNA worker who worked on rescissions of claims and has now retired from his job, put it to me very succinctly. He told me how as a former employee at CIGNA, he would look at claims coming in and decide if they should be be paid or rescinded. Management would cheer with each denial of claim, as it meant more in their pockets from higher earnings. Then suddenly one day he stopped at a Healthcare Fairgrounds and had his eyes opened by what he saw. He said, "my God, It’s because of people like me and my doings that these people had to come to the fairgrounds to get free health treatment, treatment they could not have gotten elsewhere on their budgets. And that is what we are trying to say to Congress, that we think this thing has to end.

We are here to ask, and we are here to ask vehemently, where are the leaders of our country? Where is the leadership? We're here to ask where are President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Max Baucus, Kent Conrad, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Joe Lieberman, every Blue Dog Democrat, and every Republican? Where are they now, that we, the people they allowed to go into bankruptcy and get their healthcare denied, have returned? These are the politicians who have deserted their people. And there is no more serious crime in Healthcare than the denial of care. The Healthcare Industry says they never leave their policyholders. Congress says they never even leave their voters. Yet these politicians and health insurance companies have left all their ill citizens and retreated behind a pious shield of public rectitude. They've left the real stuff of their reputations bleaching behind them in the sun in this country....

We wish that a merciful God could wipe away our own memories of our illnesses as easily as Republicans have wiped away their memories of us. But all that they have done, and all that they can do by their support of healthcare denial, is to make it more clear than ever that it is our own determination to undertake one last mission: To search out and destroy, the last vestige of these barbaric politicians; to pacify our own hearts; to conquer the denial of healthcare and insurance payoffs to politicians, that have driven this country these last sixty years and more. And more. And so, when, thirty years from now, when our family members go down the street with a cured leg, a fixed arm, or plastic surgery on a face, and small boys ask why, will we be saying "2009 Healthcare Reform" and not mean a teabag blog, not a filthy obscene memory of Washington Politics, but mean instead where America finally turned, and where people like us helped it in the turning.

Subject: Did Reagan or Bush "indoctrinate" our youth?

During his campaign for the presidency, Barack Obama pledged to improve the quality of our nation's education system and to encourage our youth to take responsibility for their education. During his young presidency he has also, at very times, challenged students, parents, and teachers to do something about the drop-out rate that's among one of the worse in industrialized nations. On Tuesday, President Obama will address the nation's students as most of them begin a new school year. Unfortunately, many Republicans and right-wingers have decided to politicize this address.

Many are encouraging parents and schools to refrain from letting their children view the president's speech . Some schools are allowing students to opt out of watching the president, saying that it is inappropriate for a president to speak to children in this way. What idiocy! What they have conveniently forgotten is that in 1991 President George H. W. Bush gave a similar address to the nation's students. (I know and remember because I was a public school teacher at the time.) Bush asked students to write him a letter and tell him how they were doing and report ways that "you can help us achieve our goals."

There is nothing inappropriate about a president encouraging students to take responsibility for their education or to write letters to the president. Conservatives act as if President Obama wants to indoctrinate our students. This is outrageous. Where was the outcry from these people when President Bush gave his speech to school kids? I am offended. ALL of our children should hear President Obama's speech and apparently a lot of adults need to go back to school.

Subject: Obama and Health Care

I will be fair and withhold comments until I hear the President's speech next Wednesday. But I offer my thoughts as a former member of a society which has a National Health Program - everyone pays into the system but can also receive private service if they wish and pay insurance premiums over and above the national Program. Most people are happy with this. Hey one can even get housecalls made by a Doctor. You do have a choice of Doctor. It's a bloody good system.

The problem is we have a demonstrably dumb electorate that cannot even support its own self interest. It just listens to the neo fascist talk show idiots and Fox News, the political arm of the neofascists.

If we don't get a "public option," Obama is finished and will not be re-elected. The Democratic Party will no longer exist in its current form. This country is ripe for revolution and we will see a Liberal/Progressive Party!

Mr. President, Senator Reid stand up and display your cojones! Give the proletariat its right to a National Health Program.

Subject: FINALLY A Line Drawn in the Sand

FINALLY, someone is prepared to draw a line in the sand and that someone is the AFL-CIO.

The AFL-CIO President John Sweeney has made it very clear to the Congress, that if they don't come up with health care reform with a public option, that they WON'T back the Democrats in the next election.

How fantastic, WE THE PEOPLE telling Congress who is running the show.

It's about time SOMEONE told Congress just why they were elected in the first place. They weren't elected to be gofers for corporate America.

They were elected to REPRESENT THE PEOPLE. Unfortunately, most of our elected officials forget about us the moment they're elected.

FINALLY, someone is making our elected officials ACCOUNTABLE to us, the people.

Let's hope they'll get a wake up call and realize that it's the people who get them elected. Corporations give them money to run, but a corporation CAN'T VOTE.

The POWER of the people is still there and is a great mover, that can make our elected officials do THE RIGHT THING FOR THE PEOPLE.

What upsets me, is why the AFL-CLO and other organizations didn't draw a line in the sand, where the PROSECUTION of George Bush and Dick Cheney were concerned.

Pressure from such influential organizations would have forced the mainstream media to report on the INVESTIGATION, PROSECUTION, AND TRIAL OF THESE WAR CRIMINALS.

Immense pressure from the people, would have taken the LET'S LOOK FORWARD AND NOT BACK mantra out of Obama's hands and FORCED this President to do the RIGHT and LAWFUL thing.

Whether Obama liked it or not, he would have been made to UPHOLD THE LAWS OF OUR COUNTRY, AND OUR CONSTITUTION.

Why is it, that a President, who had been a CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO FOR TWELVE YEARS, has CHOSEN NOT TO UPHOLD THE LAWS OF OUR COUNTRY?

How can someone whose livelihood depended on knowing our Constitution and the laws of our country, backward and forward, all of a sudden NO LONGER RESPECT these laws?

I'm beginning to think we have another wizard behind the curtain in the land of Oz.

Just WHO IS OBAMA? All the decisions coming out of this administration, seem quite contrary to the candidate that we all became mesmerized with on the campaign trail.

He DOESN'T want to look BACKWARD at the CRIMES of Bush and Cheney.

Let's FORGET that they got us into an ILLEGAL WAR, TORTURED people, SPIED ON AMERICAN CITIZENS, OUTED AN UNDERCOVER CIA OPERATIVE VALERIE PALAME, had GUANTANAMO BAY, had an ASSASSIN SQUAD answering ONLY TO DICK CHENEY, had over 1,000 SIGNING STATEMENTS which took our rights away from us.

Obama wants us to LOOK FORWARD and FORGET all that has been done in YOUR NAME AND MINE.

For me, I CAN'T FORGET AND WON'T FORGET UNTIL THESE WAR CRIMINALS HAVE BEEN PROSECUTED.

He DOESN'T want to discontinue renditions.

He DOESN'T want to end wire tapping.

He DOESN'T want to get out of AFGHANISTAN.

He DOESN'T want to give the people health care.

He DOESN'T want to REVERSE the Bush signing statements.

Just what change was he talking about?

He has disappointed me, I expected him to be the knight to save us all from the wicked KING GEORGE.

Instead, he's the same old same old.

ANYONE, who DOESN'T get rid of what the Bush administration left behind, is nothing more than a MINI BUSH.

By NOT PROSECUTING THESE WAR CRIMINALS, this leaves the door wide open for future presidents, to break the law without the fear of punishment.

As far as I'm concerned, this law professor, and ex-senator from Illinois is nothing but an assessory to the Bush/Cheney CRIMES.

OBAMA promised CHANGE, CHANGE, and more CHANGE and that's what he has to do, or else this Obama, the guy who was going to make a difference in the way things were and have been done in Washington,is nothing but a FRAUD and doesn't deserve a second term in office.

It's now up to Obama to draw HIS line in the sand and STAND UP to the health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies and DEFEND the AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Obama needs to tell Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed that they HAVE to get UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, SINGLE PAYER, WITH THE PUBLIC OPTION THROUGH OR ELSE.

The people need to let their voices be heard in Congress. Call 1-800-828-0498 and ask for your representative or senator NOW.

Subject: Tom Ridge interview on Rachel Maddow re: Terror Alerts

Anyone else notice Gov. Ridge can't bring himself to make eye contact with Rachel while explaining his own published words questioning why the terror alert was raised to red in the month before the 2004 election? The book implies the terror alert was raised for political expediency, an implication he now denies (then why was it published in the first place?). His body language during the interview belies his explanation. Other interviews available on You Tube do not show his shyness in meeting and keeping an interviewers eyes.

Mr. Ridge is later interviewed by Rachel on other issues, where he is obviously being candid on those issues. Then later again, he discusses the intel leading up to invading Iraq and his eyes 'go missing' again.

Makes you wonder just who got to him and what carrot or stick has been promised?

Subject: Health Insurance

It is apparent that there are many people who do not understand what "socialized medicine" and "single payer" mean. Medicare is not socialism, the VA is. The government owns the VA hospitals and other facilities and personnel are employees of the federal government. Medicare is single payer insurance. Enrollees pay premiums and receive services, doctors bill the government for services to their medicare patients and the government is the single payer who reimburses the doctors. There is some supplemental private insurance available to medicare patients if they want it.

The public option being discussed for reform is just non-profit health insurance which would make it less expensive than private insurance. It is really a simple concept yet so misunderstood.

Subject: Dishonorable Senator Coburn

I hope a lot of us got to see Sen. Coburn's answer to the poor lady who needed help for her sick husband. You Tube!

He used the typical no answer Republican double speak.

Sure he will help her, but the rest of Americans have to wing it on their own. He says "the goverment is not the answer."

Ah, Senator you are the goverment, are you not? You will help one person becuse you got caught on camera, and had to answer her, isn't that so Senator Coburn?

Otherwise, she may have gotten the old heave ho behind closed doors. This is the way Republicans treat everything when it comes to helping the little guy. Grovel before the wealthy. The status has to stay, the rich and the poor with the republicans, and never the twain shall meet, if they can help it!NO HEALTH CARE FOR ALL,JUST FOR US WE DESERVE IT YOU DON'T!

Republicans have you no shame?

These words were said long ago and they fit just as well today when said to the party of NO! Senator Coburn is just carrying the message of his party to the little guy and he double spoke it perfectly.

Subject: Lieberman Has Lost His Mind

Hi BuzzFlash,

So Joe Lieberman goes on CNN this past Sunday and tells John King that the Democrats should postpone their Healthcare Legislation until the recession is over. What?

How many people, who cannot afford healthcare insurance or who have pre-existing conditions and getting healthcare insurance is impossible, can hold-off getting sick until the recession is over; or at anytime for that matter?

How many healthy people out there, who have not bought healthcare insurance because they thought they are invincible, have suddenly gotten sick or been in an accident? Why didn't you wait to get sick or have an accident until the recession is over, like Joe Lieberman thinks you can wait?

How many healthy people are out there, who have suddenly become ill and have been dropped by their Healthcare Insurance, to deny the claim or deny treatment? Have no fear, Joe Lieberman thinks you can all stay healthy during the recession.

The swine-flu may attack us again in the fall. Hope all of you can hold off getting sick from the flu, until the recession is over, like Joe Lieberman ineptly thinks you can.

And if you missed Bill Moyers Journal last Friday, here is the video that will make your jaw drop. Make sure you watch ALL OF IT!!

Bill Moyers Journal: CRITICAL CONDITION http://video.pbs.org/video/1222675770/program/1113570149

Folks, Lieberman has lost his mind. Will somebody please tell Joe Lieberman to please do us a favor and put his brain in gear before he speaks again?

Joe, it’s high time for you to give-up your Congressional Healthcare Plan that the public is paying for. After all Joe, we’re in a recession!
