Subject: Down With This So-Called Health Care Reform Bill

And no, any change in our health care system isn't better than no change at all. Why? Because if Congress passes this bill the public will come to believe that health care's no longer an issue, and then, no matter how many additional millions lose their health coverage, the public's response will be "Hey, not that health care issue again, been there done that", whereas, if the reform bill is defeated, health care not only remains current, it stays right up there where it belongs with the top issues of the day, troops out now, full employment & reversing global warming. What's more we'll have taught President Obama and Congress certain facts of life; namely, we lead, they're to follow.

Subject: There Is No Alternative To Our Rising Up En Masse

Which means that what has to go is this same old same old business as usual status quo, whereby, Congress agonizes interminably over at best incremental changes, but then at the first hint of pressure from lobbyists & assorted moneybags it caves, such that, one can't help but wonder why they even bothered. The so-called health care reform bill is a striking example of said tomfoolery, with climate change the next item on Congress' calendar, along with another feeble stab at doing something about Wall Street excesses. Meanwhile in the real world, what with perpetual war + global warming + economic collapse = doomsday, we're getting ever closer to that "Will the last one out please turn off the lights" moment. Which is to say that if we continue to play by the rules set down a couple centuries ago by our slave owning founding fathers, then we'll have no grounds for blaming President Obama & Congress, since we'll be complicit in their procrastinations, what with our elected representatives making like they're serious about solving the great problems of our day, while we pretend to be challenging them to do so. How to break this life* threatening co-dependency? Turnabout, that's how.

*all life on earth, that is
