Subject: Diebold machines are H.I.V-positive
This is extremely important:
[Princeton's] scientific study has revealed, for the first time, that a computer virus can be easily implanted on an electronic voting machine which could, in turn, result in votes flipped for opposing candidates. The virus, as well, could be written to then spread itself from one machine to the next resulting in a stolen election. The malfeasance would likely never be discovered, the scientists have said.

I want to state just for the record, that I've been saying this for several years now, and I (and many others) always seem to get denigrated as conspiracy freaks, nutjobs, wild-eyed alarmists, or people who "just need to get a life."
But we were right.

Subject: Contact All Democratic Politicians
We all know that bin Laden is the October surprise -- the Repugs have mentioned his name with increasing frequency in the past few weeks, and in all Bush's speeches. I've thought for a long time that he was stashed somewhere, being forced to put out the videos that show up exactly when the Bushies need a diversion. Maybe he's dead, it really doesn't matter. What we need to get out there as our message is the following:
I HOPE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SMART ENOUGH NOT TO BE SWAYED BY A "MIRACULOUS" CAPTURE OR DEATH OF BIN LADEN ANNOUNCEMENT JUST BEFORE THE ELECTION. RECOGNIZE IT FOR WHAT IT IS.......A KARL ROVE DIRTY TRICK DESIGNED TO SWING THE ELECTION.
("See what a good job we're doing at keeping you safe?")
If they really do have him in custody or have killed him, why has it not already been announced? They really couldn't capture him early on, or the "endless war" would have been over -- case closed.
Say it loudly and say it often -- BIN LADEN'S CAPTURE OR DEATH DOES NOT MATTER -- it's too little too late. We will not be fooled!
[BuzzFlash Note: "Doesn't matter" goes a little far ... kind of like Bush's "I don't really think about him that much." But a recent report on terrorist numbers tells the story: http://bobgeiger.blogspot.com... Al Qaeda is booming.]

Subject: The Lemmings March On!!
Not that this is any surprise, but on a local talk show here in NW Arkansas, local listeners call in on a variety of subjects, some in the area, some on national issues, such as Bush and Iraq. According to Gene Lyons, about two thirds of Republicans in a recent poll still believe Saddam Hussein had direct involvement with 9-11, despite the fact that the Idiot-In-Chief even blundered himself that there was no connection.
It just shows you people will believe what they want to believe, and that belief is their truth. One caller usually phones in and is one of the few liberal voices. (Most of us don't have the patience to explain ourselves to stubborn brainwashed Bush sycophants.) Invariably, after he calls, some muttonhead who talks like he has a mouthful of cow pies calls in and declares that this "liberal" shouldn't be allowed to voice his opinion, that he is nuts, or hates his country. This is what Rove and Co. want to hear.
Hardcore Bush fans I work with haven't budged an inch in their support, no matter what happens. The main influence on these lemmings is Bush's domination of evangelicals, as all these followers are proud "Christians" (and the worst workers in the place, most untrustworthy and just plain mean.) It could be a coincidence, but I doubt it. I'm at a loss to understand how horrible a president can be and still retain even the number of voters he does have. It doesn't make me have faith in people to do the right thing, that's for sure. You'd think people would have a little bit of a mind of their own.

Subject: Will There Be No Justice for Bush?
On a party line vote, magic bullet Spectre's (sic on purpose) bill extruded from the Judiciary Committee like an undyed green hot dog from the machine which takes entrails, bits of bone and floor sweepings and fabricates something resembling meat. The bill gives the ghoul Bush virtually unlimited power to spy on all facets of personal communication and decimates what's left of the Fourth amendment, which currently limps like a dog after being run over by a Hummer. The whorish Republican congress has abdicated its responsibility to serve as a check against abuses of power by the primate and his simians. Conyers is playing possum on impeachment should the Democrats retain control of the House and Senate, a strong possibility according to polls and precedents. This assumes, of course, that the voting process enjoys a modicum of integrity. How odd that the exit polls were valid enough to overturn a fraudulent Ukrainian election but became obsolete when they clearly showed that John Kerry had defeated George Bush in 2004. "Oh, get over it already," whines the conservative commentator. "We're ready to move on." Funny, they seem to say that all the time. Sorry, pal. I take it personally when a bunch of weasels steals my vote, and it's my solemn responsibility never to forget it. I'll remember it when it's brought up at your trial and sentencing.
The lead actress in "The Mummy" tells the weasel guy that bad boys always get their comeuppance, and sure enough, he later gets devoured by a few million cgi scarab beetles who apparently haven't eaten in a few thousand years. I've always liked the comeuppance doctrine, the idea that sociopaths like Bush and Cheney will someday face excruciating agony for all the death and misery they've inflicted on millions of innocents. These PNAC poster boys look upon everyone else as expendable, as food for their pet hyena, as shot to be loaded into their cannon, as fuel for their funeral pyres. So I am heartened by the principle of reincarnation.
Reincarnation actually was in the Bible long ago as the Book of Oregen, but you won't hear that from Pat Robertson or Jack Van Impe or Hagee or Dobson or any of the fake TV preachers. The Bible still says "As ye sow, so shall ye reap". According to the Sansrit Vedas, the actions one performs in this life will determine the form he receives in the next life, and the next birth isn't neccesarily human. For instance, if a person lives their life indulging in gluttony, their next life will merit a body more fitting for that pleasure, like a hog. As descibed in the Vedas, as a wind carries a fragrance, so the soul is carried by karma and desire to the next body. Good karma would be feeding the homeless. Bad karma would be bombing civilians. Good karma would be helping an old lady across the street. Bad karma would be cutting her Social Security and Medicare benefits. Good karma would be providing quality education and decent jobs for young people entering the job market. Bad karma would be lying to them about 9-11 and sending them to be slaughtered in Iraq.
One can only wonder what kind of horrific future awaits George Bush and his unholy band of hell hounds. 10,000 consecutive births as cockroaches in a hammer factory, for starters. Eternal damnation wouldn't be long enough. An appropriate adjudication would be seizure of all their wealth and forcing them to actually work for a living, peferably in a slaughterhouse or in the fields picking cotton. The Vedas state that one's bad karma can be ameliorated in the current lifetime if he accepts society's punishment for his crimes. Judging from his past, and observing the Bush Crime Family's proclivity to view everyone else as subordinate to them, I doubt George will surrender to any authority. I hope he enjoys his future lives as a roach.
Subject: Matthews/And whose fault is that?
When a politician lies to mislead the voters the media should point that out! The loyalty should be to the viewers, not the politicians!
Today on Chris Matthews he said negative ads work and when you have someone running against you with money saying all kinds of nasty things about you in the last two weeks there is nothing you can do about that. So basically he is saying the voter is the loser because they don't get the truth.
Why is that? Where are the watch dogs, the media, the people who are supposed to be watching out for us, getting us the truth? Lou Dobbs, CountDown, The Daily Show and Colbert Report do a pretty good job of getting us the truth. However, overall the media does a very poor job.
My sister still thinks Kerry shot himself for a purple heart and that Gore really said he invented the Internet. Both of which were made up by republicans. Almost 50% of the American people think Saddam had something to do with 9-11 even though Bush has admitted he did not.
Since we don't work for or know these politicians personally, we depend on the media to get us the truth.

Subject: Why They Hate
I have just finished reading what is far and away the dumbest thing I have read this week. It is a column published in The Magic City Morning Star, by Erik Rush entitled "On September 11th, I Choose Stupid." It is another one of these factless, baseless, hate filled ramblings of rhetoric that one hears all to often from the Ultra Right Wing. But this one is especially dumb as it lashes out at the religous beliefs of Democrats, Progressives, and Liberals all under the label of the far left, demonizes Clinton (of course), blames us for September 11th, and calls us all "haters of America." What it lacks in truth and data is more than made up for in hate filled rhetoric and an excellent vocabulary. I would highly reccomend it, if for no other reason it reminds us of why it is so important that we speak up and speak out. It is a flawed argument simply because it is filled with lies and manic hatred of those of us that proudly call ourselves, Liberals, Progressives, and Patriots. There is more truth in the vulgar bathroom scrawlings of "Here I sit broken hearted thought I'd sh_t and only far_ed" than rings true in the doltish remarks put forth in this essay.
How many times as a Progressive person of faith do we hear our beliefs challenged? These misguided souls actually believe that Jesus was a Republican. You have met these types of folks before. You know the type that when you try to engage them in a discussion of the content of the Bible give you that blank stare and a reply that might sound like,"huh"? Ask them about the 2 versions of creation discussed in Genesis revealed in the first two chapters, or of The Beatitudes The Sermon on the Mount, or of the similarity with Noah and the Flood and the epic of Gilgamesh, or the route of The Exodus, or the crimes of Martin Luther, or the significance of Gregory the Great.
The broad brushed assertion that being "Left" means you are without God or Christ in your life are the words and beliefs of an ignorant man. "Blessed be the peacemakers." This smacks of the same logic employed by Joseph McCarthy, paint all dissenters as Godless, Country Hating Communists. They would do well to read about our Founding Fathers, that we are a nation of dissenters, not a nation of sheep. Dissent is in fact part our of heritage and culture, and what we are so proud to call being an American.
The diatribe as published by Magic City further goes on to blame Clinton for just about everything. While there is nothing new here, it is just once again factless. The author describes President Clinton as "Fiscally Irresponsible." Not only is that laughable given the financial stupidity shown by George Bush and the Republican Party, but it is not true. Not only did President Clinton leave us with a surplus in the trillions when he left office, he reduced poverty from 15% of the population to 11% and household income rose under President Clinton from $40,000 to $46,000. This data comes from other left wing sources called The Census Bureau.
The author also dragged President Carter into the mix, so let's just examine some data. (Data like truth is the scourge of the right). Under President Carter poverty held steady at 11% however average household income rose by nearly 10%. President Reagan mismanaged his way to increasing the poverty ranks, growing it from 11% to 14% and over his 8 years in office average household income grew by 5%. Bush I mismanaged to grow the number of poverty stricken Americans from 14 to 15% and shrank average household income by 5%. His son not wanting to be outdone has managed to drain the treasury, increase poverty from 11% to nearly 13%, swell the numbers without healthcare, and during his nearly 6 years in office average household income has dwindled by 3%. This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface if we compare job creation under Clinton versus Bush or the mere fact that 5 million more Americans have a need to visit and use Soup Kitchens since the year 2000.
The right likes to accuse Democrats of weak foreign policy, but then they are quick to eliminate Jack Kennedy from the debate as though he somehow doesn't count. The man who through tough talk diplomacy averted nuclear war and guided us through the Cuban Missile Crisis is irrelevant? That in and of itself is enough to debunk the argument. But there is more. Was the Iran Contra affair an example of strong right-wing foreign policy? (Oh and since Kennedy is out for the left, Nixon must be removed from any such example of strong foreign policy by the right.) How about the invasion of Grenada? Panama?
Exactly what are these folks talking about?. The loss of life of hundreds of marines in Lebanon? September 11th? To blame Clinton for September 11th discounts what administration was in power when we suffered such catastrophic intelligence failures, it discounts the Presidential Daily Brief that George Bush received in the summer prior to the attack, and it completely fails to hold accountable those in office who still have not provided our first responders with the ability to communicate.
We have been misled into a war, which was just confirmed by the Republican controlled Senate Intelligence Committee, and through the bungled decisions of George Bush we have spared the life of our known enemy (Osama Bin Laden) who continues to threaten us today. 58% of Americans per a recent Wall Street Journal poll feel no safer or less safe than they did on September 11th.
If one is to blame Bill Clinton for the tragedy of September 11th, one must then also blame George Bush senior for the World Trade Center bombings. Why? Just examine the number of days in office by the administration in power at the time. No. It is a wrongful declaration of guilt. In each case the administration in power was and is responsible for the failures that led to the attacks.
But there is a difference. In the case of The World Trade Center bombings, those who committed the crime were captured, tried, and incarcarated. And let us not forget we fought a war under President Clinton, the difference is we lost not a single life, and we rid the world of an evil dictator.
These rampages of hate rhetoric published and printed for all to read never contain any reference to any data nor any truth, they are filled with hatred of a personal nature. They don't foster or add to the discourse, they serve as an attempt only to foster the divide.
Finally, the charges of stultifying regulation (see, stultifying is a big word, so it must be true) and social entitlement. To these charges my answer is The Voting Rights Act, Social Security, Equal Opportunity, Minimum Wage Laws, Safe Working Environments, and Clean Water. The danger is Global Warming, the very thing that George W. Bush has chosen to ignore and stifle the release of data. (Stifle is just a poor man's stultify.)
So, Why do they hate? The answer is in the title, "I Choose Stupid."

Subject: On 'Defying the President' Over Military Commissions
A battle apparently rages between the President and some members of his party over his proposed military commissions legislation. Some, like senators Warner, McCain and Graham, worry that the accused won’t be allowed to see the evidence against them, or even to be present at their own trials, or to confront their accusers. They worry, too, that Geneva Convention protections are not being extended to the accused in the President’s legislation, or that he wants to just rewrite the Conventions to allow his commissions to satisfy them.
Does congress have the power to make a law creating a ‘regularly constituted court’ that denies an accused the right to confront his accusers, to know the evidence against him, to be present at his trial, or to be afforded Geneva Convention protections? I think the brief answer is “No.” And I think the President and people like Warner, McCain and Graham are perfectly aware of this. That’s why I think this ‘battle’ with the president is a show. It lets republicans up for reelection seems to defy a republican President whose political life must end in two years.
These are not stupid people (I mean the Senators, of course). They understand that the Supreme Court has already ruled in Hamdan that Geneva Convention protections do apply to detainees generally and al Qaeda in particular. So Article 3 protections can’t be omitted from any legislation that hopes to pass muster with the court. Likewise for rewriting the Conventions. The Court has spoken on this, too, in Sanchez-Llamas v.Oregon:
Under our Constitution, “[t]he judicial Power of the United States” is “vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.” Art. III, §1. That “judicial Power … extend[s] to … Treaties.” Id., §2. And, as Chief Justice Marshall famously explained, that judicial power includes the duty “to say what the law is.” Marbury v. Madison, 1 Cranch 137, 177 (1803). If treaties are to be given effect as federal law under our legal system, determining their meaning as a matter of federal law “is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department,” headed by the “one supreme Court” established by the Constitution.
Just as it is clear that commission legislation cannot deny an accused Geneva Convention rights, so, too, is it clear that the executive cannot interpret them as it suits him. The Court says plainly in this opinion that, if treaties like the Geneva Conventions find their way into federal law, the court has the final word on “what the law is.”
So just saying, as the President does, that if we abide by the Detainee Treatment Act, [already gutted by his signing statement anyway] that will satisfy all of our obligations under Common Article 3 won’t do. The Court will decide what does and does not meet our Geneva Convention obligations, just as it did in Hamdan.
So, too, merely stating in a law, as the President wants, that these commissions are “regularly constituted courts” won’t do. The court found in Hamdan that they weren’t, not because congress had forgotten to say they were, but because they didn’t afford the minimal legal protections of regularly constituted courts. If they still don’t in any new law, presumably the court will again find them deficient.
As I say, the three republican senators ‘defying the President’ know all this perfectly well, and I am sure they are working on legislation that is likely to be upheld, not sure to be rejected, by the Supreme Court. That legislation, when the dust of this ‘battle’ settles, will be what goes forward. If the republican senators who sponsor it cannot avoid including rights the Supreme Court has made clear it expects, look for it to be gutted either by a last minute “Graham Amendment,” on a par with his amendment to the Detainee Treatment Act, or in the President's signing statement. One way or another, we will find another reason to be thoroughly ashamed.
Subject: October Surprise Is OBL? Doubt It.
I know that dumbya is a rat, but I don't believe that he would allow the capture of OBL. After all dumbya's family and the Bin Laden family are business partners from way back. See Carlyle group (which recently purchased Dunkin Doughnuts). And some of the Bin Ladens had dinner with dumbya on the very evening of the 9/11 attacks.
Seems unlikely that even that rat bastard dumbya would kill off his pResidential life support by capturing him. As long as they have the boogeyman hiding under OUR beds they can play the fear card. Remember dumbya saying he doesn't think about (OBL) him much and he (OBL) isn't that important?
More likely our October suprise will be another domestic terror attack which will be blamed on Iran/Al Queda which will cue up the war on Iran along with lower gas prices. And I suspect they will dust off that lovely spinning terror color/election wheel.
It would be a wise move for us to fill up our gas tanks the evening before the selections. They are no longer elections. I will not call them elections until every vote counts, and every vote GETS COUNTED.

When I turned on the TV, there he was and I didn't stick around long. I heard him say that he never said that Saddam ordered 9/11. He said he only said that after 9/11 it became important to take out threats early. I guess that means everytime he gets paranoid we will have to attack somewhere. Here are a few quotes from doofus:
2003 SOTU: And this Congress and the American people must recognize another threat. Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications and statements by people now in custody reveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of Al Qaida. Secretly, and without fingerprints, he could provide one of his hidden weapons to terrorists, or help them develop their own.
Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons and other plans, this time armed by Saddam Hussein. It would take one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known.
Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike?
Iraqi refugees tell us how forced confessions are obtained: by torturing children while their parents are made to watch. International human rights groups have catalogued other methods used in the torture chambers of Iraq: electric shock, burning with hot irons, dripping acid on the skin, mutilation with electric drills, cutting out tongues, and rape. If this is not evil, then evil has no meaning. "
Subject: Oh-oh, George Is Hearing Voices Again
Did you hear that Bush thinks he sees the “3rd “ awakening? Considering what he’s brought us with his first two that’s scary.
Personally I don’t think the pretentious little Pinhead had a first awakening. George, you lied to get us into a war and now you are too damn incompetent to know how to win it. In fact you have screwed it up so damn bad it will be a disaster no matter what we do.
If we leave it may get worse. If we stay it will get no better for years. Why not paint a bull’s-eye on the back of the uniforms of all our military personnel?
You invaded Iraq without knowing anything about the middle-east, about the Muslim people and nothing whatsoever about an insurgency. You are abysmally ignorant. Little rich boys like you never get it that were it not for all that family money you wouldn’t have been qualified for a job at the local car wash.
Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Rice are liars on a scale that boggles the mind. They just lie about how well everything is going and hope no one notices that it is not. There’s an intelligent strategy.
Now Bush scurries up to Capitol Hill to bully the Senate into allowing the gutting of the Geneva Conventions. Georgie thinks he can stomp his little foot and get Senators Lindsey Graham, John Warner and John McCain to fall in line. Thus far the three Republicans are standing firm.
We expect McCain to playact his little “maverick” routine, that’s his shtick after all. Lindsey Graham seems to remember that he is a JAG officer and judge and John Warner tries to pretend he is still the honorable gentleman he used to be. And a wild card named General Colin Powell. Don’t know if it is too late for this man to regain any of the honor he lost while playing in the mud with the Bush Bunch, but it’s nice to see him remember which side he is supposed to be on.
So please, Georgie, keep your thoughts of “awakenings” to yourself. We think that if you had an awakening it was in the middle of the night because you had to go to the bathroom.

Subject: The Wages of Tyranny?
It's interesting to note that nearly every tyrant in modern history who concocted such creative blights on the soul of mankind as a Holocaust, a Reign of Terror, an Ethnic Cleansing, or just simple little Extraordinary Renditions, gave those orders altogether comfortably and confidently. All such dictators were certain that the trappings of power would forever keep them from the obligation of having to account for the human detritus left behind by their own lack of humanity.
Which kind of leads you to wonder whether Bush and Cheney have bothered to open a history book at any point within the past several years. Doesn't it?
