BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

I agree with the editors at BuzzFlash ---a two state solution which guarantees security for both sides is the only answer to the oft repeated Middle-Eastern crises! I wonder if Bush’s hands-off approach proclaiming “Israel has the right to defend themselves, but use restraint,” is more a political safety net rhetoric response while hoping Israel will accomplish what Bush himself is politically hesitant to do--more preemption, more invasion, more war with Syria and Iran!!! Has the Bush administration calculated that it would be more acceptable to the American people and certainly a more politically correct action to come to the aid of Israel if and/or when Syria and/or Iran decided to enter the current conflict? Is Bush looking to spread his version of “freedom and democracy” throughout the Middle East? Is he in fact using Israel as a pawn to accomplish his ultimate goal of world domination?

There is something seriously wrong with a man who has the audacity to stand before the people of the United States and tell us “we’re making progress in Iraq” when these kinds of atrocities are occurring on a daily basis! “Masked attackers with heavy machine guns mounted on pickup trucks slaughtered at least 40 people in a crowded market area south of Baghdad on Monday, hurling grenades to blow up merchants at their counters and shooting down mothers as they fled with their children, witnesses and authorities said.” Rather than “flowers and song,” funeral wreaths and the death march are all Bush has managed to achieve by invading Iraq. It is unfortunate indeed for the Iraqis and for us to find out that Poppy was right when he decided against occupying Iraq!

Not only does George use an expletive, he also shows the world how crass he really is by talking with a mouth full of food and also chewing away with his mouth wide open! What does this say to the children, what are mothers all over the world, who tell their children, “don’t talk with your mouth full and don’t chew with your mouth open” to do, when the president of the United States of America sets such an example? Miss Manners must be in a tizzy over this latest Bush gaff!

As I look around and feel the chaos and the turmoil in this world, I find myself longing for the good ol' days, the days way back when the only thing the Repuglicans could come up with to terrorize the world was a stained blue dress! Back when the President of the United States was respected, when he was loved all around the world! You remember those days of milk and honey, when jobs were plentiful and gasoline was affordable, when America was the land where dreams come true and the nightmare of preemptive war was unheard of, when the President was just a man with all the foibles that come with being human, back in the days before we had a “misunderestimated” guy who thinks he’s God Almighty perched in the Oval Office! Yep, I’d trade preemptive war, death and destruction, worldwide instability, hatred and strife for a stained blue dress any day!

Katherine Harris has discovered it doesn’t matter what you’ve done for your party, but rather what your party can do to you! Obviously “swift boating” isn’t limited to Democrats when you are a Repuglican who commits the serious mistake of talking about another Repuglican with some questionable background situations. You see, in the Repuglican world, it’s not the deed that counts but more questioning the dirty laundry deed from another Repuglican! Story of 'Joe's dead intern' began Harris' slide, insiders say.”

What is it with this Congress??? Another time, another administration, another party in the majority and we would be patriotically respecting the sacrifice of American soldiers, by saluting those flag-draped coffins returning home. My God, if ever public prayer is beneficial, we should be praying on bended knees for the safety of those soldiers left in Iraq. Somewhere, somehow, Americans have truly been led astray--when respect, honor, and dignity, when publicly recognizing the sacrifice made by these brave men and women returning home, is denied! They died in service to their country; they should be given a grateful distinctive return, rather than secretly brought back home to America in the dead of night unannounced! Where is the honor, the dignity, the respect, the recognition they deserve?
