Subject: Lamont and Lieberman

Wolf Blitzer on CNN today stated that Ned Lamont has been dropping in the polls since Joe Sleezerman filed as an independent.

Joe Lieberman's reaction to losing the election reminds me of the oft-related tale of the scorpion which, having stung to death the rabbit which had carried him across the river, explained "That's just the kind of s.o.b. I am!"

Ever since Bush has been a resident of the White House, we have watched Lieberman and a number of other Democratic senators vote with the neo-cons and big corporate interests instead of defending our constitutional rights and the best interests of the American people.

As long as we have Democrats like Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Mark Pryor of Arkansas - who seem to alternate in their voting patterns in order to appease us now and then - I will continue to feel very insecure about the presence of scorpions and the future of this country!

Subject: Propaganda Machine in Overdrive

Too bad for the neocon-Republican alliance that the planned invasion of Lebanon didn't materialize as they had envisioned. They weren't able to draw Syria and Iran, who share a mutual defense pact, into the conflict. The mythically insurmountable Israeli Army proved to be no match for a guerilla force one-tenth its size. Israel's use of internationally banned weapons against sleeping civilians, fleeing convoys, UN observers and ambulances showed the world that human life other than Israeli has no estimable value to Ehud Olmert.

There was a fervent need for the propaganda machine to change the subject and fast, so the White House called on their poodle Blair to hasten the arrest of some young Pakistanis who were being led into jeopardy by two British intelligence operatives. In exactly the same manner as the Miami group, government operatives provided means and motive to an otherwise incapable and innocuous non-organization. As that non-event became exposed as another distraction away from Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon, the arrest of an individual in connection with JonBenet Ramsey's death dominated mainstream media's airwaves. A friend told me that it was nonstop on Fox News. How utterly convenient for the official White House news network. They don't bother to mention Conservatives' frequent junkets to Thailand or the Dominican Republic, countries infamous for child prostitution.

Unfortunately for the cud-chewing masses, the ineffectiveness of weapons of mass distraction heightens the real risk of another government-induced, false-flag terror event here in the United States. The stakes become higher for the floundering ruling party, who will not hesitate to kill many thousands of innocents to maintain their illegal grasp on power. They have repeatedly demonstrated total disregard for human life, whether it be Arab or Americans sent to die in their quest for world dominance. Even after suffering continued failures in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon at massive human cost, they are hell-bent on their ideological pursuit of power.

Media organizations who provide cover for mass murderers will be held to account. Failure to act as guardians against the runaway train of dictatorship is equally criminal. Those who support the criminal dictatorship will have no place in a Constitutionally restored America. Real patriots, like Lt. Watada, will be elevated to leadership positions in the restored America. Bush solemnly swore to protect and defend the Constitution. He has since done his best to destroy it. The spirits of the slain American patriots from the thirteen original colonies cry out for justice. Honor and integrity demand it.

Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s minister of propaganda said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

Dick Cheney and other Republicans have repeated the Big Lie that disagreement with the Republican Party is equivalent to support of al Qaeda. Already, they have accused anyone of dissenting views of being “terrorists” and “weak on terrorism.” Such grossly untrue accusations are the equivalent of emotional terrorism and MUST stop now. This is nothing more than a scare tactic designed to steer Democrats and the American public away from rightfully exercising their first amendment rights and voicing legitimate criticism of Bush's handling of national security terrorism. Even worse, journalists have given the idea airtime, adding false credence to a partisan smear campaign that deserves no acknowledgement in an unbiased media.

John Peter Zenger went on trial in 1734 for criticizing the government. As Zenger’s attorney said, this is about “the liberty of opposing ARBITRARY power by speaking and writing truth." Because Zenger won, we have him to thank for freedom of the press, on which the American people rely for the truth - not spin or propaganda.

Without fair debate, Americans cannot make rightful informed decisions at the polls. We will no longer stand by while our candidates are needlessly skewered by the unbalanced media coverage, perpetuated partisan libel and their supporters attacked as unpatriotic. Democrats have been open with their plan: fight the war on terror by capturing or killing the real enemy, Osama bin Laden; and removing American troops in Iraq from unnecessary harm’s way. Additionally, hurricanes, health care, and job security are practical ideas that have NOTHING in common with those of terrorist organizations. It's time for the media to stop changing the subject, time for the media to stop brainwashing the American public for Dick Cheney and right wing extremists by enabling them in their quest to crush the valid worthwhile opposing views of We the People.

More relevant now than ever, Theodore Roosevelt said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

Subject: C-Span's Washington Journal

I was watching Washington Journal. The guest was an author and very knowledgeable on the subject of Islam. The last phone call asked him to comment on the document put forth by the architects of the Iraq war, Project for a New American Century. The caller hung up and Brian completely ignored the question. I was so puzzled. He started asking the author about his family and anything else he could think of, but never even acknowledged the question. I'm about ready to blow up my television!!! Did anyone else notice this? My frustration level is through the roof. If I hear Joe Lieberman one more time being interviewed I will scream. Who is this arrogant, hubristic man? November cannot come soon enough. If there isn't a change in November, then I truly am in despair.

How dare you give us a long winded unimportant ten year old story about a dead baby when a FEDERAL JUDGE RULED AGAINST BUSH IN THE ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING OF AMERICAN CITIZENS?

Why are you protecting a pack of criminals in the White House? Are you afraid of them? Or are you just criminally arrogant and so satiated with wealth that you won't budge ... you know... call it INTELLECTUAL GOUT!

How insidious is this that anyone is quick to blame our military when they are put into a war in which the enemy looks like the noncombatants and hide behind women and children. There is a terrible sickness among those in our Nation who rise up in support of the enemy in their words against our guys!

To Jane in KS, I'm so glad to find some one that just cringes in "her innards" like I do.... when anyone calls the "Idiot" a cowboy....It is an insult to my late husband and all of the other REAL COWBOYS...My "COWBOY" had the Hat (a Stetson) and the Cattle AND the Horses...( but never any pigs). Subject: Take My Liberty That I Might Live Another Day

A little over 200 years ago a group of farmers, merchants and business men joined their meager resources to overthrow the forces of tyranny in this once infant country. That group of individuals gave their solemn oath, their land, their possessions and in many cases, their lives, to the purpose of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

That infant country has grown up, but the concepts held within the preamble of our Constitution hold no less dear a spot in the hearts of all Americans. That stated purpose pumps the blood through this nation’s soul and breathes life into this nation’s every decision.

Every Senator and Representative, our President and Vice President, and each soldier within our military take one solemn oath -- to defend the Constitution against enemies both foreign and domestic.

Everything is in place for this nation to move forward with a clear purpose and to make decisions with the General Welfare as our guiding light, to establish Justice that no man should question, and to provide a Common Defense that our nation and its Constitution be preserved against all enemies.

So why are our representatives, whose sole, solemn oath to protect our Nation’s Constitution, breaking that oath and allowing the Constitution to be ignored as so much worthless paper?

The fourth amendment states: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This is one of the most unambiguous amendments, and states clearly that a warrant is needed to search the persons, houses, and effects of ‘the people.’

Yet we have a President, Attorney General, a House of Representatives and a Senate who shout: “NO! WARNING! WARNING! The terrorists are coming, the terrorists are coming. It’s too dangerous to uphold the fourth amendment. We would keep our solemn oath to you and the nation, but we cannot, for someone may perish. Warning! The terrorists are coming and only we can protect you.”

This does not seem to be the speech of people born of the same cloth as those farmers and merchants who sacrificed everything for this nation. This does not seem to be the speech of those courageous few who took to arms and vowed their lives when a ‘real’ threat dressed in red coats was ‘really’ coming.

This does not seem to be the speech of those who would give their lives for the liberty they so dearly sought. What has happened to those few who would shout, “Give me Liberty or Give me death?”

And who, as we are seeing so clearly, would instead shout, “Take my liberty that I might live another day?”

Did the idea of freedom die with those farmers? Did the courage to uphold our nation’s very foundation die with those intrepid few? Can America once again find that spirit of freedom that pumps through its veins? Or do we give up our unalienable Rights and our Constitution so that we may live yet one more day a little less free?

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Subject: Lieberman in the Rose Garden

I have an exceptional memory, especially for shocking details. Since the year 2000 I have had to rebuild my computer twice ... so my old files are simply not here ... I have been trying to find an old story to bring into the open NOW that proves that Joe Lieberman was the FIRST PERSON TO THROW IN THE TOWEL in the 2000 election, even though it was Al Gore's towel to throw. Remember there was a concession call at first, then Gore RENIGGED and there was a period of some weeks, then the election was called by the TRAITOROUS SUPREMES. Somewhere in that footage of those days, Joe Lieberman was reported/shown to be the one who conceded the race. Wouldn't that be something to bring up NOW? Can we get more people to look for the story other than me? Timing is important if we want LAMONT to win.

What on earth is wrong with us. Now we're convicting 7 year old children? We're in the same bracket as Sudan and Nigeria? China has a better standing on a human rights issue than the US? In fact we are in the lowest age bracket. Does this come as somewhat of a shock to anyone else? I'm flabbergasted!!

We let CEOs defraud us and literally walk, we let people who out CIA agents get away, we let oil corporations milk us for all we are worth, we let them pollute our planet, but children -- children we will convict. On a more cynical note, can't enter a bar till you're 21, can't smoke till you're 18, can't drive till you're 14-16 depending on where you're at, but hey kids -- we reserve the right to try you under our penal law!! Bravo!!

Subject: Watching the idiotic 'news shows"

I watched Chris Matthews tonight...he seems to be, right now...so down on Bush. But, I remember how 'down' on Clinton he was just before the impeachment....I wonder if Chris knows now what a real CRIME is? All who love Bush...should know...and should feel it. I, right now...blame all who voted for him....even my family...they are all to blame. Once you get a criminal mind in the White House....with no constraints...with a party who is just about as criminal as he...then you got problems! It gives me the creeps when I see that bunch come over that hill at the "Western White House" with Tony Snow...who is just as bad...worse... I get impatient. Anyone who would be impatient with a crying child...will be twice as impatient with a lying adult...and 6-8 followers!!

I will be gone all next week...from the 21st to the 27th...but, I will be doing a lot of reading when I get back....and I will try to catch up on the news every night! Hold down the fort....I hope nothing scary happens to us...or you...or any of our readers!

All of us readers really need to donate...I recently gave a little...not nearly as much as Buzz is worth to me...but, I am a victim of Bush's economy...no job! But, I think we are all a victim of it....even Buzz. We are all paying three times as much to drive...just think about that...gas is 3 times as much as when Clinton left office...everything else has doubled in price, no vacations anymore...you go and visit friends, or family...and that is not a vacation....so we go to the nearest place...Lake of the Ozarks. Subject: A Mushroom Cloud?

I think it was condi rice who coined the infamous quote, "We must attack Iraq and Saddam Hussein, before the smoking gun is a mushroom cloud." This was repeated for days on end by george (DUPEYA) bush, dick cheney, and every other neocon talking head and bush sympathizer. They had very little to back up such a claim and what they did have was fabricated and force fed to Congress and American citizens.

I think george (DUPEYA) bush has proven to be a serious threat to America's democracy and to our Constitution. dick cheney has proven to be a serious threat to America's democracy and to our Constitution.

The bush regime accused Saddam of having WMDs.

We all know george (DUPEYA) bush has his WMDs within about 20 ft. of him at all times.

My question then would be: When should we remove george (DUPEYA) bush, dick cheney, and their entire cabinet of evil-doers? Must we wait for the smoking gun to appear as a MUSHROOM CLOUD?

Subject: Bush blasts court ruling on surveillance

hey buzz...

bush strongly disagrees with the ruling that his warrantless eavesdropping is unconstitutional. using fisa is too time consuming and slows down the government's fast moving war on terror.....what fast moving war on terror?...the japanese gave bush the means for liquid bomb detection in january, he still hasn't put them to use...there is no war on terror just a war on the constitution...the democrats have to hit hard every time he comes up with a lie...call him on every lie en masse. in the same article. he drops this beauty:

Subject:Wiretapping

To demonstrate the Bush administration commitment to continued warrantless wiretapping, I am enclosing a copy of a proposed amendment to the CALEA act [Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act of 1994], which covers the requirements placed on telecommunications companies to support wiretaps. Presumably this bill, and especially the proposed changes, represent administration policy.

The PDF file was received and distributed by a trade organization to which my company belongs. The email accompanying this indicated that the bill is being worked on by Sen. DeWine's office, and will be introduced into Sen. Kyl's Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security.

The legend at the beginning of the file indicates the changes proposed. Take a close look at Sec 103c -- it requires the phone companies to assist law enforcement by allowing monitoring on their premises. The last addition (new legislation) reads:

Pursuant to lawful order or other authorization, a carrier shall comply with subsection (a)(3) by allowing monitoring at its premises.

Nowhere is this other authorization described, or placed under legal jurisdiction. Basically, this law, if passed, lets the government wiretap at will under the umbrella of "other authorization." So much for the 4th amendment.

Even if it does not pass, the mere fact that this language was introduced shows the lengths to which this government is willing to intrude into private lives. If you are able to use this, please redact my name and address as well as the file itself, as the distribution of the proposed bill was limited, and conceivably could be traced. I do not yet trust the whistleblower laws.

Subject: Call for Withdrawal of Republican Candidate

Why doesn't Lamont call on the Republican candidate for Senate to withdraw since Lieberman is already the Republican candidate? Isn't there some legal action that can be taken to prevent two Republican candidates running against one Democratic candidate? Lieberman isn't an independent candidate since he is getting advice and funding from the Republicans. And I understand the so-called Republican candidate is not receiving any support from the Republicans. It seems to me that Lieberman's status as an independent should be challenged. Even if that fails, it will send a message to the Democrats who support Lieberman, that Lieberman is not one of them.

Subject: Republicans Robbed Our Pensions!

I had a bad day on Thursday. I've had worse, the day my brother died for example, the days my grandparents passed over, but outside of those, Thursday certainly ranks near the bottom of my favorite days.

Bush signed into law on Thursday 8/17/2006, the Pension Reform Act. Buried in the 907 page bill is a provision that will allow my former employer, UPS, to convert my 17 years of vested interest in UPS's defined benefit pension plan into a "cash balance plan." A worker at my age can expect to lose from 40% to 60% of anticipated pension benefits under such an arrangement.

And I am not the only loser. All of the 44 million Americans that qualify for a defined benefit pension and think they will be collecting it, are in for a rude awakening. The bill is structured to encourage employers to convert their old defined benefit pension plans to "cash balance plans." Over 842 companies have filed preliminary papers to indicate their intent to convert their defined benefit pension plans to "cash balance plans." The remaining +29,000 companies that have promised their employees a defined benefit pension will be under intense pressure to follow suit.

I called the office of my Representative, Jerry Weller, R, IL, to ask if he would introduce a bill to allow the US Government to convert his defined pension plan to a "Cash Balance" plan. But I expect that wild, leather-winged, flaming monkeys from hell, will fly out of my ass before this happens.

I have to go now and rub lotion on my rear end. It's really sore. And I think I am going to throw up. But before I go, here is some more info that you may wish to be aware of. The bill in question also had some specific parts to it that directly were specific to UPS (multi employer pension funds in particular). UPS's political action committee, UPSPAC was a corporate sponsor of Newt Gingrich's "Contract On America." Over 80% of UPSPAC money goes to Republicans. They are /or were, the fourth largest political action committee in Washington, DC. UPS's former chief financial officer is Gary MacDougal, the former head of the Illinois Republican Party.

And here is the kicker. In 1993 I filed a complaint with the FEC ( Federal Elections Commission, aka Failure to Enforce Commission) over a tactic that UPS used to extort contributions from its employees. After a long and costly legal battle UPS paid a $9,000.00 fine, admitted no guilt, and promised never to do it (get caught) again. In essence UPS used money it extorted from me and others like me to give to Republicans so they could change the laws to loot our pensions. God Bless America.

Yesterday, 8-18, I read somewhere that a minister just wrote a book showing the US Govmt orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, which I've believed since seeing "In Plane Site" 2-3 yrs ago. Does anyone know the author's name, where I can see it?

Subject: CNN adopts administration spin on wiretapping

CNN.com - Bush confident about appeal on wiretap ruling - Aug 18, 2006

from paragraph 3:

"A federal judge in Detroit, Michigan, ruled Thursday that the NSA cannot continue to monitor Americans' phone calls and e-mails to terror suspects overseas without warrants."

This is an absolutely baseless adoption of the white house characterization of the NSA wiretapping. There have been numerous reports stating that the program goes much further than this description indicates. It also fails to consider that, with no judicial oversight, no demonstration of "probable cause" or any cause at all is being shown to anyone to classify any party to the communication as a "terror suspect" or to ensure that it is only "overseas" communications that are being monitored. This is just mindless repetition of white house spin that furthers the false storyline that Bush is trying to protect us all from terrorists if only the courts and the democrats would eave him alone.

To make matters worse, the writer of this piece writes this in the next paragraph:

"U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor declared the program -- which the White House has dubbed its "terrorist surveillance program" -- violates the First and Fourth amendments to the Constitution and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978."

This reporter is obviously aware of the spin associated with the name "terrorist surveillance program," yet mindlessly (and baselessly) advances the underlying storyline in the preceding paragraph.

It's maddening. For every one person that is aware of this sort of thing there are thousands that will give it a glance and adopt the desired storyline into their subconscious without giving it a second thought.

Subject: Letter to the Editor

Everyone running for political office wants the voters to think they are a Christian and a Conservative. If they are really a Christian I do not believe they would have to buy time on TV to make people aware of their Religious ways. I believe it would show in the way they approach the problems of the poor, the working poor, the handicapped and the multitude of children who go to bed hungry and without Health Insurance in Oklahoma.

Oklahomans have gone to the polls and put in office the most Conservative Senators and Representatives in the history of the State. We even elected a President who billed himself a Compassionate Conservative who showered Big Oil with real tax breaks as they raised the price of gasoline to $3.00 a gallon; forcing them to accept historic profits from the poor, the working poor and the Middle Class who must own and operate an automobile in Oklahoma because these great Conservatives refuse to provide low cost Public Transportation.

What does it mean when a Candidate for political office says, “I know what it means to be a conservative”?

Does it mean enforcing our immigration laws by assessing legal fines on Industries and businesses that hire illegal immigrants and pay wages that are less than our minimum wage that hasn’t been increased in 9 years? If that were the case, we would not have an illegal immigration problem ---- no jobs – no illegal immigrants.

Does it mean controlling spending and balancing the budget? If that were the case, Americans would not be burdened with an $8,466,014,542,771.71 deficit that is increasing 1.68 billion a day as of August 13, 2006.

Does it mean protecting life and promoting strong families? If that were the case, then Medicaid for low income families would be fully funded; or even better, Americans would have National Health Insurance and the children of the poor and working poor would be spared going to bed sick and hungry.

Our Elected Officials have increased their pay almost yearly for the past 9 years. I’m sure that has made their families stronger. If they really believed in strong families, not just for themselves, they would have increased the Minimum Wage and made the families of the poor and working poor stronger and in a position to move to America’s Middle Class.
