BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

In her wisdom, Golda Meir once said, "Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us," which made me think, “Peace will come when the Repuglicans love their country more than they hate the Democrats”!

To all those who thought Arlen Specter had developed a spine and that he is interested in preserving democracy--HE DIDN’T and HE ISN’T!  His interest is somewhere, where the sun don’t shine, “With one piece of legislation, Sen. Arlen Specter seeks to expand the Bush administration's radical theory of executive power beyond the wildest dreams of Dick Cheney or even John Yoo. Just when it looked as though some semblance of checks and balances was being restored, Specter -- the Pennsylvania Republican who masqueraded for months as a tenacious opponent of the White House -- offers a bill that would strike an immeasurable blow for the Bush vision of an imperial presidency.”  So much for American democracy--in case you hadn’t noticed, our freedoms are being eliminated by those who would sell their souls in order to maintain powerful positions!  They worship power more than they value the Constitution of the United States of America and the American people!

Hmmm, “ GEORGE W. BUSH (R-TX), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: I've laid out a positive agenda for this country. An agenda that will help people help themselves ... we don't believe in the heavy hand of the federal government; we believe in the helping hand.”  Well now, seems that George Bush’s “helping hand” has helped us right into the middle of preemptive wars, “shock and awe,” death, destruction, the Patriot Act, and the biggest deficits this country has ever seen.  Frankly, he can take his so-called “positive agenda” and shove it!

Sometimes words uttered in the heat of a campaign can come back to bite you in the ass in the heat of reality!  Perhaps George Bush should have heeded those words coming out of his mouth way back when! “When you don't keep faith with the men and women of our military, it's hard to keep them at all ... Dick Cheney and I, have a message to all of our men and women in uniform and to their parents and to their families: Help is on the way.”  Err, puleezze, if this is help, what exactly do George and Dick consider neglect? “And whenever America uses forces in the world, the cause must be just, the goal must be clear and the victory must be overwhelming.” Yeah, sure!!!  And then there were those famous last words: “We will strengthen our intelligence operations to detect terror before it strikes.” Enough said!!!!

How can anyone have the audacity to stand up and claim “progress” in Iraq?  We keep hearing Bush say “we’re making progress” but if the killing of so many innocents as well as the continued daily deaths of American soldiers is “progress,” then please give me redeployment, please bring our soldiers home.

What is it with these Repuglicans, who think a suit and tie gives them full authority to do and/or say whatever the hell they want, whenever the hell they want, and to whomever the hell they want?  It takes more than “dress-up” to make a statesman!

“V for Vendetta” came out on video yesterday!  A highly entertaining movie, and viewing time well spent!

Sorry, but passing the buck in hopes of someone else carrying the banner and revealing the truth, just doesn’t cut it!  Here we are on the brink of another war encompassing the entire Middle East and the 9-11 Commission is out and about attempting to redeem themselves!  If in fact any of those serving on the Commission were true patriots, true Americans, and they believed the info they’ve just now released, and they didn’t bring it to the attention of the American people at the time, they are just as guilty by default after the fact!  “Some staff members and commissioners of the Sept. 11 panel concluded that the Pentagon's initial story of how it reacted to the 2001 terrorist attacks may have been part of a deliberate effort to mislead the commission and the public rather than a reflection of the fog of events on that day, according to sources involved in the debate.”
